guided or self-guided if I mainly want the auditorium?

Hello. My main reason for visiting is the auditorium and Chagall ceiling. I am happy to pay for the guided tour if that improves the chance of seeing it, but I do not want to pay extra based on a false assumption. Does either type of visit actually guarantee auditorium access?

No guarantee on either. That is the awkward bit with Garnier: rehearsals and performance activity can close the auditorium, and the operator explicitly says access is not guaranteed.

If that room is the only reason you are going, that risk matters. If the building itself interests you, the self-guided route still covers the big public interiors and lets you move at your own pace.

Old buildings over beaches, always. I'll happily stand in one room for twenty minutes if the ceiling deserves it.

Understood. I will not treat the guided ticket as an auditorium guarantee. Thank you.
